Mirjam studied Dutch Law (Master’s in Private Law) at the University of Groningen. In addition to her many years as manager of a medium-sized sauna and wellness complex, she worked for two years in the notarial profession after graduation, specializing in family and corporate law.
In March 2019, she transitioned to the legal profession and specialized in inheritance law (and tenancy law). As of September 1, 2025, she is affiliated as a lawyer with Customs Knowledge, where she runs her own inheritance law practice while also working in the field of customs law.
For Mirjam, good communication, expertise, and personal involvement are very important. She understands that inheritance law can be legally complex, often during a time when the passing of a loved one already brings about many emotions. A good lawyer can bring calm and clarity by clearly explaining everything, outlining the possibilities and limitations, and keeping an eye on all (underlying) interests.
Mirjam works from the office in Heerenveen, where she also lives nearby. She enjoys both winter sports and sunshine. In her free time, she finds joy in walking, running, and playing tennis—both on the court and off, as secretary of the tennis club Ten Woude. She also enjoys playing games at home, eating out or cooking at home, and spending time with her family, relatives, and friends. And if she happens to have any spare time, she loves horseback riding, doing puzzles, and sailing on a catamaran.
Mirjam is registered in the areas of law register of the Dutch Bar Association under the field of Inheritance Law. Based on this registration, she is required to obtain ten training points each calendar year in each registered area of law, in accordance with the standards set by the Dutch Bar Association.
