Along with classification, the origin of a product determines the applicable customs duty rate. But when is a product considered to originate from a specific country? Is a simple processing step sufficient? Often, it is not! Depending on the country of origin or destination, specific and complex rules apply. We are happy to guide you through this maze of regulations to help determine the correct origin.
Would you like more legal certainty about whether you are correctly applying origin, document codes, origin rules, or preferences? The origin scan is the solution!
With this origin scan, we conduct a quick
assessment of the origin of goods declared for import or export by your
company. We examine the distinction between preferential and non-preferential
origin, the differences for imports (use of documents) and exports (issuance of
documents), and the applicable origin rules.
We will discuss with you:
- how origin is currently determined;
- the sources you consult for determining origin; and
- how you can identify additional measures to improve your processes.
Using one or two products (a combination of commodity code and country of origin), we assess whether the origin has been correctly determined.
The time allocated for the quickscan is 5 hours. The scan is limited to either origin for imports or origin for exports. This time includes telephone consultation, reviewing information, preparing a report, and, if necessary, providing a brief explanation of the report by phone. The scan is offered at a fee of EUR 1250,- .
